My First Sewing Project!

Thanks to Custom Crops I had the perfect project lined up to be my first on a sewing machine, a Cricut Dust Cover!
A lifelong friend of my mamas, Jeri who I call my "soulmate" is an avid crafter just as I am. We spend any time we can find working on projects in all avenues of crafting. She is very good at sewing and I've always wanted to learn, so she volunteered to teach me. Here are pics of our steps in making this cover!
I layed my pattern down and pinned it to my adorable Pez fabric. Cut out all the pieces and layed them out.
I gathered both side pieces slightly, and pinned them to the main piece for sewing!
One sleeve down than the second came together perfectly. After a hem along the bottom and some trimming and cleaning up it was done! For the complete pattern and instructions go to http://www.customcrops.com/articles.php?tPath=8

Here it is at home in the grotto!!
Hope you like it!

Sympathy Card for a Cousin

Unfortunately we had a tragedy in my family. A second cousin around my age passed away unexpectedly. I made this card for his oldest sister who was closest to him. He will be missed and may he rest in peace.
The sentiment is cut at 3" from Wild Card and is embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder.
My embellishments include some Prima paper flowers a black brad and some 1/8" black ribbon
Hope you like it!

Special Ordered Cards!

A friend of mine ordered a couple of cards from the grotto. Here's what I came up with!

The first was for her elderly father who loves golf. So I made a golf themed birthday card for him.
The background paper is from The Paper Studio Faith Stack.
The golf clubs are cut from Wrap It Up Cartridge at 3 1/4"
My sentiment is stamped in brown ink and the clubs are popped up with sticky doos!

The second card is for my friends brother who just became a grandpa.
The paper is Slate Stripe from Joanns
The onesie is cut also from Wrap It Up at 4"
The bundle of joy is embossed in white
The white brads and ribbon are from Hobby Lobby
Both cards are A2 size.

Hope you like 'em!

Hand Crocheted Blanket for my Mini-Me!

This is a blanket made for my closest friends granddaughter, Devoni. She is turning 8 and her theme for her birthday is My Little Pony. My mom has always made crocheted blankets with material stiched to one side so if someone doesn't like the feel of yarn, they can still have the warmth of yarn blankies!

Here it is folded up!

The material is My Little Pony and the yarn is Red Heart brand color:Orchid

The Blanket is 38"x41"

Hope you like it!

Day After Valentine's Day Post!

Well I spent my whole Sunday in my grotto, but no one went without their special Valentines! Here are some more pictures of Valentines I made. Enjoy!
These are some sour cream containers my BFL's (Best Friend for Life) niece asked me to make her for her class. She needed 30 and since some children in her class can't accept candy, we filled these with Valentine themed fruit snacks from Target
The paper is called "Love Stripe" from Hobby Lobby. Cut into 6" squares.
Heart tag cut out from the Hannah Montana cartridge at 2 1/2"
Hugs and Kisses stamp from Hobby Lobby and embossed in white!
Paper crimper give the edges a sealed look!

My Boyfriends Auntie Evelyn's birthday falls on Valentines Day! So this is her birthday/valentine from us! I hope you like it Auntie!!

This last card is one of two that I made for my love! He got this one with his present and another one at dinner. He wanted one with kisses so this is what I made him. It was one of his favorites!

Hope you like 'em!

Valentine Treat Bags for my Nephew!

Since I have no children I asked to make my 4 yr. old nephew's valentines to take to school. When I asked him what he wanted to say, He told me, "BIG HUGS!" Then he jumped up and gave me a squeeze! These are what I came up with, I hope he and his friends at preschool enjoy them!

He needed 20, and they all have a sucker and pack of conversation hearts!

The base yellow cardstock is from Hobby Lobby as well as the Candy Heart background. The heart is cut at 1 1/2 from Cricut Classic Font.

The 1/8 inch white ribbon is from Wal-mart, and the sentiment was created with an EKSuccess alphabet stamp set.

Hope you like 'em!
